We wanted to start off our blog with a 2023 recap!
It’s been a wild year and we’re excited to see people onchain again. It seems most of the bear market is behind us and we’re seeing building and deploying at a rate we’ve been missing for years. The Gas Team wanted to share our journey through 2023 and where we plan to go into 2024 and beyond.
Gas.zip was introduced in May. We wanted to solve the problem of not just finding new chains, but getting gas money on them. Why does it take 20 minutes to find a bridge only to repeat the process again and again for each new chain? We wanted Gas to be the go-to bridge for users trying to fuel their wallets with small amounts of gas money, on multiple chains, at once. Why not get all your errands done in just one trip?
Let’s check the chains to see how we’ve done so far!
Since inception, we’ve added 100 destination chains. Our top 5 outbound chains have been:
Arbitrum and Optimism are users chains of choice. And since May, we’re proud that almost half of our users are returning monthly, with every user averaging about 3 chains per transaction!
We made it a point from early on to listen to our users.
We’ve had their help in finding what chains they want to see added most. And it was users who requested increased transaction amounts and also adding a $2 option, which has been our most popular so far. We also listened to users when they said they wanted to interact with their new chains. That brings us to token.gas.zip!
We allowed users to explore new chains further by deploying their own contracts. Now, instead of just moving gas to these niche chains, users can be ahead of the curve by deploying tokens while non-Gas users are still looking for the bridge. Since introducing our token page, we’ve seen an exciting split between basic and custom contracts and hope to see continued use moving forward!
Our latest addition has been lz.gas.zip.
Seeing the demand for LayerZero, we wanted to allow users to transact over LZ with multiple destination chains AND offer the most chains of any LZ bridge. Since then, we’ve seen usage skyrocket, even increasing Gas.zip volume!
We’re excited for what 2024 holds. Gas plans to continue providing value to its users, allowing them to bridge gas money to as many chains as possible. We also plan to integrate several new messaging protocols, hoping to make Gas the largest bridge aggregator onchain! We’re thankful for our users, who we’re excited to serve across several ecosystems in the new year!
